About Forsythe Church
The Forsythe Church of Christ is a community of faith meeting on Forsythe Avenue in Monroe, Louisiana. We invite you and your family to visit our worship assemblies and Bible classes. You will find a warm welcome, a simple and reverent worship assembly, and a strong commitment to the teachings of the Bible.
Each Sunday we offer
9:30 Bible Classes for all ages
Our church family is active in several areas that might be of interest to you.
Youth. Our Associate Minister, Daniel Kirkendall is leading a transformative program for teenagers including weekly gatherings, classes, youth events, trips, and short term missions. Leading young people and helping them grow in discipleship is a primary goal.
Children. Our Children’s Education program is called His Avenue. The Children learn Bible stories by participating in learning centers that emphasize the principles of Scripture through art, puppets, science, story telling, service, games and movies. About halfway through our Sunday morning service we dismiss the children to go to Children’s Church where they will receive a lesson on their level.
Ladies Ministry. We have two ladies classes that meet on Tuesday mornings. At 9:30 Linda Graves has a class, and at 10:00 Mignon Riley teaches a class. Classes do not meet during the Summer months. We also engage with HeartFelt Ministries, groups of ladies that meet monthly for mentoring and fellowship. Each February there is a Ladies’ Day and each Fall there is a brunch to kick off the new series of study.
Service. There are opportunities to serve the community by working with the Desiard Street shelter and the Meals on Wheels program. Throughout the year we have opportunities to give to various special needs.
Missions. We have a very strong connection to a mission in Zambia. Our Minister of Missions, Richard Myers, visits there annually. There is a Bible college, orphanage, and community garden where Zambians are taught how to grow self-irrigating crops to sustain their lives.
LifeGroups. Lifegroups are small groups that gather throughout the area most Sunday afternoons and evenings. These serve to help develop deeper relationships, Bible study, and prayer. Our small groups discuss the content of the sermon and look for personal application of the lesson of the day.
Throughout the year there are special activities that seek to draw people closer together in fellowship and service. Most third Wednesday nights of the year we have a dinner together at 6:30 p.m.
If you are visiting in town or if you do not have a church home, we invite you to come see what we are about. We would love to have you visit with us. If you have any questions, please feel free to email or call.
